OH THE PLACES WE'LL GO

One of the reasons M and I took this amazing opportunity to live and work in Hong Kong was it gave us the chance to travel throughout Asia and experience a world completely different than life in the US.

Hong Kong serves as the perfect travel hub to so many destinations we would never have dreamed of visiting. In some cases, we had never heard of the places that now top our travel list, such as the Angkor Wat temples in Siem Reap and the slopes in Nozawa Onsen.

Our travel list was getting quite lengthy. So I set a goal for M and I to travel to a different country every month in 2012. Here's where we've landed so far.

1. January - Phuket, Thailand

2. February - Shanghai, China (The list of cities visited since we moved here includes Chongqing, Chengdu, Wuhan, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing)

3. March - Singapore, Singapore

4. April - Bagan, Myanmar (Burma)

5. May - Penang, Malaysia

6. June - Taipei, Taiwan

7. July - New York City, USA

8. August - Hanoi, Vietnam

The next 4 months will be filled with travel to exciting new places so stay tuned! I will leave you with an excerpt from one of my favorite childhood books, "Oh the Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss.

 Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.  And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.

You'll look up and down streets.  Look 'em over with care.
About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.

And you may not find any
you'll want to go down.
In that case, of course,
you'll head straight out of town.

It's opener there
in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.

And when things start to happen,
don't worry.  Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.
